Virtual concert with Jan Gunnar Hoff: Quiet Light

Virtual concert with Jan Gunnar Hoff: Quiet Light

The year 2020 has offered many difficult challenges and restrictions. But we believe music and cultural exchanges can cross borders when the rest of us can not. For this reason, we want to share this experience with you. We hope you will let us introduce you to Jan Gunnar Hoff and this piece, «Terra Nova», from his solo piano concert «Quiet Light».

The Arctic winter has many things to offer. The most spectacular are the Aurora Borealis (the northern lights), the clear, starry sky, and the breathtaking colors of the winter light. Now imagine watching these phenomena in combination with the enchanting, live music from the grand piano of an Arctic composer and pianist. This grants you the opportunity to mentally visit the Northern Norwegian soundscape.

«Quiet Light» is a series of winter songs originally recorded in 2014. The visual performance we have prepared for you is broadcasted from a concert hall in the town of Bodø, Norway. Jan Gunnar Hoff is a renowned pianist, composer, and professor. Joining him on stage are the talented, local youth choir. The original concert was available between December 18th and December 25th.

Jan Gunnar Hoff has been involved in a nomination for US Grammy Awards with the album Quiet Winter Night (2L 2012). He has composed 250 works and released 20 albums.
